About the Project
The owners of two separate retail buildings propose to combine and convert them to create a Health Centre which will consist of a Medical Centre, a Pharmacy and Specialists.
This will progress in stages. Before Stage 1 (the Medical Centre) could be planned in detail, it was important to look ahead to visualise how it will fit into an overall Concept Design for future stages (the Pharmacy and Specialists). So the first task was to draw up the existing buildings and work with the Client’s ideas for unifying the different styles of the existing buildings into a coherent and attractive overall concept for a contemporary Health Centre.
Then Stage 1, the Medical Centre, was designed in detail, based largely on the input of the owner/developer for converting the existing retail building into a modern medical facility to meet the needs of general medical practitioners and physiotherapists.
The early input of other consultants for planning, urban design, structural engineering, fire safety and earthquake strengthening advice assisted greatly in enabling a speedy resolution of the various issues involved. As the architects we created the 3-dimensional CAD modelling of the overall concept, and the various stages within it, that enabled all parties, including Council, to easily visualise how the project comes together, from partial demolition through to remodelling and completion.
