About the Project
The owner of the Silverstream Shopping Village has been progressively upgrading this suburban shopping centre over the last few years. Co-Design Architects Ltd are proud to be associated with these upgrades.
Health Centre – The first stage was the Health Centre, which was extended to double the capacity of the medical practice. The owner of the medical practice played a significant role in the design of the layout of the upgraded Health Centre, ensuring the final outcome fulfilled their needs and aspirations. Along with the upgrade of the Health Centre, a major alteration of the adjacent entranceway was carried out, creating a prominent Entry with its flying wing roof.
Physio & Gym – The second stage was the extension of the existing Physio to double its capacity, along with the addition of Pilates and Gym facilities. A simple mono-pitch roof extends for shelter over the footpath. The roof is supported by paired tubular struts symbolic of arms stretched upward and outward, expressive of the active lifestyle which these professional facilities invite passers-by to participate in.
Pharmacy, Bakery & Cafe – This is the third stage of the village upgrade, and quite extensive. Complete re-shuffling of internal spaces and utilisation of previously empty walkway spaces has enabled the owner to significantly enlarge both the Pharmacy and Bakery and add a new Café without any increase in the overall footprint area. The owner of the Village and Pharmacy has played a significant role in the design of the new layout. A major feature of these alterations is a new Main Entry to the shopping village facing the main road (Whitemans Road). The added height of the new Entry allows clerestory windows to bring plenty of daylight into the interior retail spaces.
