About the Project
It has been said ‘Architecture is the frame of life’. The architecture of this home frames the ideal lifestyle for the Taylor family. The gentle curves of the roof sit comfortably in the landscape, and the exposed steel trusses frame the entrances and indoor-outdoor connections.
The home was designed for a family with teenage children. A variety of indoor living spaces connect easily with decks, private outdoor entertaining areas and the swimming pool on the private sunny side of the house.
Bedrooms on the upper floor level open out to the sunny balcony overlooking the family pool and entertaining areas below, and linking with them via a feature exterior spiral steel staircase.
The dramatic tubular steel columns and truss are a unique feature that support the wide roof overhang for shelter, while also framing the balcony – like an elevated stage making everyday home life a special place to be.
